Boy, it's been a LONG time since I last posted anything like art. Due to skewl, but also procrastination and devotion to videogames.

Meet my newest characters: Zero (the Vortian) and Duuir (his Laobab mount)!

They're relatively new, being that they've only existed for around five months as more than sketches and as fully-fleshed, full-colored characters. And this is probably the first time in a while that you guys have actually seen more of my strange little creatures in full-color and not pencil-smudged and/or inked with my micron pens.

I'm still working on Zero's own little storyline for a possible comic consisting of action, adventure, bad pick-up lines, fighting, and general silliness that comes with my own brand of interesting fiction. :3

Background:

- Zero comes from a 500 year-old off-world Voritan bloodline marked by their hardiness, adaptability, and striking family resemblance. Each and every Vortian springing from the Bvik family lineage have a dark, neutral skin tone, pale eyes, and unique dark boomerang-shaped horns.

- Despite being old enough to live on his own, he lives in a giant, half-buried frigate ship of unknown origin with his parents and seven other siblings. His mother, Vera, is the carrier of the Bvik blood and the main reason why all of her offspring look like her instead of Zero's father, Aardan. Zero's twin sister, Nyx, also stays at home for the same reason: to help raise the rest of the family and maintain the family assets. Dreg, Pheno, and Gen are the second oldest at 16 each; Wik and Theri are the third oldest at 10 each; Quin is the youngest at 8 and is the only singly-born child.

- Zero is an avid adventurer, tending to wander a wide radius around his home on a daily basis, picking up and returning with whatever caught his attention. This includes but is not limited to dangerous animals (whom he's lassoed and subdued), other wayward explorers, and beautiful women. As comes with his brand of adventuring, he's a regular patron to Iridekk's small underground sparring arena and frequently comes home battered and bruised but all smiles despite his injuries. He has a record of 19 wins and 3 loses.

- Zero has had multiple mounts (all were and are Laobabs). However, he's taken a liking to a particular dun-colored doe affectionately named, "Duuir" (Old Vortian for "Sweet one"), whom he raised from a fawn after her mother bled to death from complications with her pregnancy when Duuir was only a few days old. Duuir has been with Zero since he was 14 and has developed an incredibly strong bond with him (a typical, heart-warming "a boy and his horse" kind of relationship). Zero frequently plays tag with her and showers her with love and attention, all of which she returns without question.

- When he was just 18 years old, he and his twin sister, Nyx, saved a group of five Irken soldiers who were re-encrypted with Anti-Empire protocol by the Resisty; they were impressed by his quick wit and horsemanship and agreed to train him and his siblings to defend themselves, disarm opponents, and improvise with weaponry.

Notes:

- Duuir is a particular type of Laobab; she's very sociable and playful around Zero but is very suspicious and cautious around strangers. Although she won't attack anyone under normal circumstances, she will only allow others to hitch a ride if Zero is also on her back.
